Midterm, midterm, paper, presentation, midterm, meeting, paper, proposed bibliography made up of the first 10 hits on JSTOR, midterm...this is going to be a very long week.
Which is why you should take a break and come to this week's film! Just so you know, there won't be any events posted over Reading Week, but there will be an update the Sunday before classes resume. We're working on some pretty interesting events, so be sure to drop by then.
Be sure to check the below post for info on LPIRG's elections. Nominations close on the 14th!

Seeds of Change: Farmers, Biotechnology and the New Face of Agriculture
This film is the result of three years of effort by an University of Manitoba PhD candidate, Ian Mauro, U of M professor Stéphane McLachlan, and independent videographer Jim Sanders. Though the film was completed and ready for release in 2002, screenings were blocked by the U of M administration until 2005, at which point the three men responsible for it went public with what was being done to their film. The creators frankly state that "the video is explicitly critical of crop genetic modification technology as a whole, and of biotech giant Monsanto" but claim that their critique is legitimate and that the U of M was acting to protect its close relationship with that company.
The screening will take place in Galileo's Gallery at 7PM and will be followed by an open discussion. All are welcome to attend.
