LPIRG is a student led, student funded not-for-profit organization dedicated to research, education, advocacy, and action in the public interest. LPIRG exists to provide students with resources to be active citizens.

LPIRG is a collective, following in the tradition of Public Interest Research Groups on other Canadian campuses, that combines student research, education, and action initiatives. LPIRG provides funding for undergraduate research, projects, events, and working groups in the public interest. We facilitate opportunities for skills development through educational events, public campaigns and partnerships with community organizations. It is our hope to transform social concern into effective action by providing administrative, informational, and technical support to students at the U of L.

The LPIRG Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing all of LPIRG’s operations. Board member duties include organizing events, setting annual priorities, reviewing funding applications, developing and maintaining policy, doing community outreach, and hiring staff.
